Gibbons honored as
Concession Manager of the Year
Shirley Gibbons, who is a member of the Fair Board and serves as our concession manager, was honored April 19, 2015, by GOSA at the Ohio Fair Managers Association (OFMA) at their Spring District Meeting. GOSA is the name of the organization for professional concessionaires who provide food trailers, games, and rides at all our county fairs. Shirley was one of only two individuals who received such an honor. She will be retiring this year after over thirty years of service to the Clermont Co. Fair, first as the spouse of a director and then taking over her husband’s position after he passed away. Shirley had previously been honored at the OFMA Convention several years ago as an Outstanding Fair Board Supporter. Her husband, Bill, was admitted into the OFMA Hall of Fame posthumously. The Clermont Co. Fair Board has been strengthened by the service of both Bill and Shirley and congratulate her for a well deserved recognition.
Fair book cover design
winner is announced
Congratulations to Jon Carpenter of Williamsburg. Jon won the 2015 fair book cover design contest.
His design fit this year's theme, "Discover the traditions of the Clermont County Fair", very nicely. In the photo, Jon is holding his winning entry. Pictured with him are Fair Book Committee members, Dan Hodges, Carl Schoellman and Bea Faul. Congratulations, Jon!
Duke Energy gifts $2,000 sponsorship
Duke Energy recently gifted the Clermont County Agricultural Society a $2,000 sponsorship in recognition of the outstanding volunteer leadership and service that Fair Board Director Tim Trester has demonstrated on behalf of the Ag. Society. Tim is a long term employee of Duke. The Fair Board has been blessed to have Tim on their Board for the last 10 years. In 2005, Tim replaced his father, Jerry, who had previously held the Tate Township seat. Tim’s main responsibilities on the Board center around parking the thousands of vehicles that enter the fair grounds each year as well as the Open Beef Show, among other things. Tim is also active in the Bethel community with the fire department and, previously, the Boy Scouts. Tim and his wife, Linda, have raised 4 children while juggling all their volunteer work.
